About the Journal

Journal of Biomedical & Space Sciences (JBSS)

The Journal of Biomedical & Space Sciences (JBSS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal dedicated to advancing knowledge at the intersection of biomedical sciences, clinical medicine, aerospace medicine, and space systems engineering.

JBSS publishes high-quality original research that contributes to scientific, technological, and clinical advancements relevant to human health on Earth and in space environments.

The journal is published by LIASTRA Institute, through the International Center for Biomedical & Space Sciences (ICBS), Brazil.

Aims & Scope

JBSS aims to:

  • Disseminate original scientific research in biomedical and space sciences.
  • Promote interdisciplinary dialogue between life sciences and aerospace engineering.
  • Advance innovation in space medicine, sustainability, and health technologies.
  • Support open, ethical, and reproducible scientific research.
  • Encourage translational research bridging terrestrial and extraterrestrial health applications.

The journal welcomes interdisciplinary contributions integrating medicine, biology, engineering, physics, and emerging technologies applied to space and extreme environments.

Open Access Policy

JBSS is an open-access journal. All published content is freely available without charge to readers or their institutions.

Users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of articles for any lawful purpose without requesting prior permission from the publisher or the authors.

Publication Model

JBSS operates under a continuous publication model. Once a manuscript is accepted and its final version is approved by the Editorial Board, it is assigned a DOI and published online.

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review.

ORCID registration is mandatory for all authors to ensure transparency and author identification integrity.

Copyright & Licensing

Authors retain copyright of their work and grant JBSS the right to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).
